Club History

In 1976 Eric Wilson entered a team in the Acklam Sports Centre five-a-side league under the name of Kader Youth and Community Centre. A second five-a-side team was also entered and these two teams later merged to form an eleven-a-side team which then entered into the TJFA at the Under-11s age group. This was the beginning of Kader FC as we know today.

The following season Eric handed this team to John Hill and started another team with Dave Nimmo. This team was also entered into the TJFA at Under-11s. Eric was then elected the first secretary of the club, a position he held until Chris Ord took over as secretary in 1986.

During the time Chris was secretary, the club won TJFA club of the year in the 1999-00 season. It was during this time Chris took the club forward changing from Kader YCC to Kader FC, thus becoming more independent. A new club badge was required, and as Acklam is the base for the club, it was agreed to incorporate the oak tree into the new logo - Acklam in Anglo Saxon means "place of oaks". Chris then left Kader to become TJFA secretary after running both Kader and TJFA at the same time.

Jim Sullivan followed Chris as secretary until he had to step down due to ill health. Jim had again guided the club to win the TJFA club of the year in the 2000-01 season and he also helped them to become one of the first club's in the region to gain the FA's Charter Standard.

Chris Hudson was later elected as secretary and has taken the club forward in recent years. The club has since gained Community Club status as well as winning the NRCFA development club of the year in 2004-05 and 2005-06. Chris has also been awarded the County Football Workforce Award. This award is presented in recognition of the contribution made by individuals to grassroots football during the 2006/2007 season.

In the last few years the club has stepped up to a whole new level and is setting the bench mark for other clubs to follow. The club was voted Community club of the year in the 2009/10 season by the North Riding County FA.
