Formed in 2007 with just 2 teams Coventrians FC have grown into one of the bigger clubs in the Coventry area. For the 2015-16 season we will have 15 teams and our successful soccer school. The teams start from U7 and go up to full senior playing over 3 different leagues. Most of our teams play in the Coventry Minor League, with our seniors competing in the Midland Football League and our senior ladies side in West Midlands Regional Ladies League.
Coventrians FC were awarded the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club status in 2014, having progressed straight from the FA Charter Standard Club status which was first earned in our 2009-10 season. At the end of the 2013-14 season we were awarded the prestigious Charter Standard club of the year from Birmingham CFA as well as winning the regional award.
In 2014 we also became a Nike Partner Club – one of only 92 in the whole country. All teams play in the same blue and white Nike kit which gives a real sense of belonging and community.
At the start of last year we relocated the whole club to a purpose built facility in Holbrooks Park which has allowed us to grow as a club and still have scope to expand over the next 10 years.
The Coventrians Soccer School provides a platform for Year R & Year 1 children in the community to first and foremost enjoy football. Our coaches help the children develop their skills and understanding of the game enabling them to progress to be part of a Coventrians team from the age of Under 7 if they so wish. The Soccer School welcomes both boys and girls from the age of 4 with sessions every Friday evening. We have had 2 players this year progress from our soccer school and U8 team into the Coventry City Academy.
We actively encourage and assist older players in becoming coaches and help out with younger teams or soccer school. We have also formed a youth council to allow the players a voice in what goes on in their club.
Each year we take teams to in a tournament hosted by our twin club – Chickerell United which are based in Weymouth. This has been an annual event for the last 5 years and each year more and more people come along.
Coventrians FC are very proud of the contribution that all our players make during the season and this is recognised at our annual Presentation Evenings. Every player in the U18 and below teams receives an individual award as well as larger trophies been given out as “Special Awards”. This past season we also introduced a “Team Hero” Award which was given at the managers discretion to the player, supporter, parent or grandparent who they felt had made a huge difference to theirteam. This runs alongside the Clubman and Junior clubman award that recognises an individual’s contribution to the whole club as opposed to just one team. Long service awards are given to players (and their parents) who have been with the club for 5 years and 10 years.
