Allexton & New Parks FC was formed in 1996 to provide organized, leisure-time activity for the local youngsters in New Parks and the surrounding areas, to help channel their energies in a positive direction; The Allexton Centre was offered as a meeting place and New Parks Community College provided playing space for the members – hence the Club name, Allexton & New Parks. Former Leicester City player Frank Worthington became our Club President, and was succeeded in 2008 by Martin Morley (Emperor Scaffolding) a local businessman and long-term Club supporter. The Club’s subsequent growth and success could not have been foreseen; we are currently running 27 teams, in competition from U9 upwards, and cater for a multi-racial membership, numbering 350+, aged 5 years onwards.
Four years ago, we ventured into Open Aged football initially in the Leicester & District League, then elevated to the Leicestershire Senior League’s Premier Division; in 2013/14 we became League champions, having won the Beacon Bitter Cup in the previous season.
By making this progression to ‘Open Age’, we are now able to offer quality football from the start to finish of a member’s playing career, with an opportunity and encouragement to ‘skill up’, and become another of our volunteer helpers in the process.
We had sought to have our own HQ since December 2002, but without success. Finally in 2007, the Leicester City Council & LRCFA, with Football Foundation and other funding assistance, pressed ahead with a Financial Investment Strategy to provide updated football development facilities at locations throughout the city; Allexton & New Parks FC is the main partner Club to use the new facility at New College which boasts a full-size ‘3g’ rubber crumb, floodlit All-weather Training Pitch, a floodlit senior pitch, numerous other grass pitches and a pavilion with large Clubroom – finally we have our own HQ. All our patience was finally been rewarded with the new facility opening in October 2010 – we look forward to many more years of encouraging local youngsters to enjoy their football and develop their skills at this magnificent new facility.
